Claim tags are currently available in CAplusSM and in the PatentPak Interactive Viewer for US, CN, WO, JP and KR patents. Coverage has now expanded to include EP patents.
In addition to the expanded availability of claim tags, this also increases the availability of the recently introduced Substance Claimed (SCLM/RL) role indicator within CAplus, CASM and CAS RegistrySM. The SCLM role indicator allows a user to search within CAplus or CA for a particular patent where a substance has been found and was annotated from within the claims. To find glyphosate patents in CAplus with the Substance Claimed role, search as follows: = > s 1071-83-6(L)SCLM/RL.
The role can be used in Registry to discover if a substance has ever appeared in a patent claim for a particular Registry Number by using the RL.P custom display format.
Availability of both claim tags and SCLM role indicator will be most common in patents from the supported offices from 2022 forward as annotation practices were tailored at that time to preferentially annotate the claims in support of these new features.
