Effective March 2024, the coverage of Derwent World Patents Index (WPINDEX/WPIX/WPIDS) has been expanded to include Saudi Arabian patent applications (kind code A) and granted patents (kind code B1). Frontfile documents are currently available, and a backfile to 2014 is planned, with further backfile additions a possibility.
With the addition of Saudi Arabia, DWPI coverage now totals 60 authorities, and two technical disclosure publications.
Early analysis of the Saudi Arabian patent documents shows a strong focus on pharmaceuticals and chemistry, as well as other areas such as construction.
