STNext/SciFindern Product Interoperability

SciFindern

STNext users may now visualize answer sets in SciFindern and take advantage its filtering ability.

This functionality is available in the CAplus (CAplus, HCAplus ZCAplus), MEDLINE, and REGISTRY (LREGISTRY, REGISTRY, ZREGISTRY) databases.

The View/Email options are accessed via the “More Items” ellipsis menu on the History tab.

If the STNext answer set contains less than or equal to 10,000 identifiers:

  • and the user selects the View in SciFindern option from the menu, the menu closes and the URL to the SciFindern answer opens in a new tab. The user will then be directed to that tab.
  • and the user selects the Email Link to SciFindern option from the menu, the menu closes and the user's default mail app opens with the URL to the SciFindern answer set.

If the answer set contains more than 10,000 identifiers, and the user selects the View in SciFindern option from the menu, a window opens in the middle of the screen displaying a text box populated with "1-10000" and a message notifying the user about the limit for identifiers. Users will have the following options to select answers in the text box:

  • a single answer or term number (example: 10)
  • several answers or term numbers (example: 3,7,10)
  • a range of answer or term numbers (example: 7-10)
  • a combination of the above options (example: 3,7-10)
  • all of the first 10,000 answers (example: 1-)

Note: If the user selects more than 10,000 results or enters invalid characters and ranges in the text box, the Continue button will be disabled and the text box will be highlighted in red.

When the user click the Continue button, the window closes and the URL to the SciFindern answer set will open in a new tab.

Export Notes

  • If the user is in the CAplus database, STNext will send the AN document identifier of the selected or all results in the format of AN ####:#######
  • If the user is in the MEDLINE database, STNext will send the PMID document identifier of the selected or all results in the format of PMID ##########
  • If the user is in the REGISTRY database, STNext will send the RN substance identifier of the selected or all results in the format of RN ######-##-#
